Filipino “Skipman” Ryan Alonzo has surpassed the current Guinness World Record in jump rope for the most number of double under skips in 12 hours during his attempt held during the Jump to Greater Heights event at the Ayala Malls Circuit Makati.
Alonzo skipped his way into the record books with 40,980 double under skips on October 2, 2021, surpassing the current Guinness record in the 12-hour event.
The 34-year-old Alonzo beat the previous high of 20,000 double unders in his attempt to bring the Philippines its first world record in jump rope.
In jump rope, a double under is performed when a participant jumps up higher than usual while swinging the rope twice under his feet.
Alonzo, who is trained and mentored by Gadric Chusenfu, has already submitted the required documentation and is currently awaiting recognition from the Guinness World Records for his record-breaking feat.
More world records set by Filipinos include the tallest Christmas tree tower of sardine cans for charity, Bulacan’s “Largest Number of Living Figures in Nativity Scene”, Sorsogon’s love & courtship Filipino folk dance. Recently, flying electric car inventor Kyxz Mendiola broke the world record for the farthest flight undertaken on a hoverboard in Subic Bay, Zambales.
