Bohol’s chocolate entrepreneur Dalareich Polot has made history as the first-ever Filipino recipient of the annual Goldman Sachs & Fortune Global Women Leaders Award.
The founder of Ginto Fine Chocolates and co-founder of Dalareich Chocolate House was honored among the joint winners of the international award in this year’s Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit held in Laguna Niguel, California from October 10 to 12, 2022.
The Filipina leader also received a grant that would help her give back to her community.
“I am extremely honored to be the first Filipina to be conferred this prestigious award at ‘Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit’ in California in the next few days. I am also very ecstatic that it comes with a grant that i can utilize to pay-it-forward to my adopted communities,” Dalareich Polot wrote in a Facebook post ahead of the awards ceremonies.
Polot empowers cacao farmers in her province and other parts of the country through her chocolate-making business and various projects. She is also dedicated to her advocacies on sustainable community development, community-based tourism, social entrepreneurship, cacao farming, and women empowerment.
Dubbed “Bohol’s Chocolate Princess”, Polot is behind the social enterprise Ginto Fine Chocolates and the award-winning Dalareich Chocolate House, the first chocolate factory in the province.
The house of chocolate in Tagbilaran successfully cemented its world reputation as a complementary stop when visiting the Chocolate Hills of Bohol after winning the APEC Business Efficiency and Success Target Awards and the Academy of Chocolate Awards in London, among others.
In attendance at the awards event were notable women leaders and personalities such as Walgreens Boots Alliance CEO Roz Brewer, TIAA CEO Thasunda Brown Duckett, AMD CEO Lisa Su, New York Stock Exchange president Lynn Martin, TikTok COO Vanessa Pappas, and philanthropist Melinda French Gates, among many others.
Every year, investment bank Goldman Sachs and Fortune magazine honor women around the world by presenting the award to individuals who have participated in the Fortune-U.S. Department of State Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership and the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women initiative.
Another cacao farming advocate, Louise Emmanuelle Mabulo of Camarines Sur, was named a Young Explorer recipient of the National Geographic Society.
