The Ayala Avenue Christmas Festival of Lights has just been ceremonially lit and its virtual edition is coming soon to your gadgets so you can watch with your loved ones in the safety and comfort of your homes.
The Makati Central Business District officially welcomed the holiday season this year as Ayala Land lit up the Christmas decorations at Ayala Avenue on November 4, 2021, and will soon present its virtual edition.
The 2-km stretch of Ayala Avenue features palm trees adorned with Capiz and string lights highlighted by a centerpiece that showcases Filipino parols, combining elements of the Kapampangan parol and cathedral stained-glass windows.
Designed by one of the most sought-after event stylists, Zenas Pineda, the installations are reminiscent of valued Filipino traditions as symbolized by the glimmering parol. It also highlights faith and optimism by incorporating patterns of stained glass windows commonly seen in local cathedrals.
Furthermore, sustainability plays a big part in this year’s display; in fact, most of the materials that were used are recycled. This includes the elegant capiz chandeliers that have been present in the annual display from previous years.
The virtual edition of the Ayala Avenue lights show dubbed the Festival of Lights: Virtual Edition 2021 is presented in partnership with Globe Studios to celebrate the true essence of Christmas safely from your home and with loved ones with a spectacular 360-degree lights animation of Ayala Triangle Gardens, complemented with a gleeful song medley composed by Philippine music icon, Jose Mari Chan.
When the pandemic hit the Philippines in 2020, the Festival of Lights held its first-ever virtual event via Facebook and YouTube. Typically held at Ayala Triangle Gardens, the venue was recreated and designed within the digital space to present a 360-degree animation, fueled with an exciting orchestration of laser lights, string lights, meteor lights, holograms, and helix lights dancing to modernized renditions of traditional songs.
For over 6 decades now, the beloved tradition continues to spark hope and cheer among Filipinos all over the country.
“More than ever I think it is important to continue to look forward and have faith that there will be brighter days ahead. Although the effects of the pandemic in the economy are more evident this year, the bayanihan spirit carries us through,” shares Ayala Land Chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala.

It is a familiar and well-loved tradition that has brought joy to Filipinos for decades. More than just ornaments, these lights symbolize brighter days to come.”
