Filipina Kiwi actress and model Franki Russell has been named one of the Top 30 finalists of the first-ever Miss Universe United Arab Emirates (UAE) pageant hosted in Dubai.
Miss Universe UAE organization announced on Instagram that Russell made it to the top thirty contestants advancing to the next round of the competition.
The pageant selected its new finalists from the Top 300 which was chosen from a pool of over 15,000 applications, according to the organization.
The Filipina beauty queen also shared the good news on her Instagram account on October 21, 2021.
“This feels so surreal…I feel so grateful and honored to be a part of something so historical – the first-ever Miss Universe here in the UAE,” Franki Russell wrote.
“Thank you to the people who brought this to life and for letting me be a part of this!” Russell adds.
“I feel like there’s never been a better time to have a Miss Universe UAE to empower and inspire women from all walks of life,” Russell continued.
“I am excited to challenge myself and grow alongside such beautiful women! Let’s do this!!”
The former Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) housemate earlier shared a message dedicated to her fans, thanking them for supporting her dream to make history and become the first to take home the crown from the inaugural pageant.
“It may not be the flag you prefer, but I am so excited because this particular pageant represents a lot more than that,” Russell said.
“Diversity, celebrating girls from all cultural backgrounds, breaking stereotypes and empowerment…Lets grow and step out of our comfort zones together,” she added.
The premiere edition of Miss Universe UAE will be held live and in partnership with the entertainment venue La Perle at Al Habtoor City, Dubai this November 7.
The three-hour historic event will feature women representing the beauty and essence of the United Arab Emirates. Contestants will be competing in multiple categories, including personal statement, couture activewear, evening gown, and interview.
Filipinos Josh Yugen, Furne Amato, and Maggie Wilson are among the council members of the historical first-ever Miss Universe UAE pageant.
Filipina Miss Universe titleholders Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach graced the Miss South Africa beauty pageant in October.
