The Tokyo Olympics Results for Team Philippines tallied the best-ever medal haul of 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze medal for the Filipino nation.
The four medals tally is the country’s best showing since it first participated in the Summer Games in 1924. Before the Tokyo Olympics, the Philippines had a total of 10 medals – 3 silver and 7 bronze.
The Philippines ranked in joint 47th spot among 86 nations in the medal standings, the best performance for a Southeast Asian nation.
Nineteen Filipino athletes represented the country in the quadrennial meeting of nations in Japan from July 13 to August 8, 2021, resulting in the historic gold in the weightlifting event and the 3 other medals from the national boxing team.
The Tokyo Olympics gold medal was won by weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz in the Women’s 55kg. weight division, the first-ever event won by the Philippines.
