Netizens here in the Philippines witnessed this scenario for the past Miss Universe Beauty Pageant where netizens show appreciation to the PH candidate’s supportive boyfriend. From Pia Wurtzbach, Catriona Gray, and Rabiya Mateo, though they don’t have a happy ending, netizens appreciate the support they had given to our PH pride.
And now after winning the gold medal in Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Hidilyn Diaz shares a glimpse of her personal life and her love story:

Sa 2019 episode ng programang Sports U, inilahad ng kauna-unahang Olympic gold medalist ng Pinas na si Hidilyn Diaz at ng kanyang Filipino-Japanese Guamanian boyfriend at coach na si Julius Naranjo kung paano nila nabihag ang puso ng isa’t isa.
Julius: “For her competitions, I try my best to be there. I work hard to save up and buy ticket to make it to her competitions to surprise her… Being there for her when she’s down and when she’s winning no matter what, that’s what it is. When she’s down even when she doesn’t wanna talk, I’m there.”
Hidilyn: “Nagustuhan ko siya kasi mahal niya ‘ko for who I am. Mahirap mahalin si Hidilyn Diaz kasi priority ko God, weightlifting, family and mejo last siya. Tanggap niya na hindi siya masyadong priority. And siya mismo ang nagbibigay ng time for me. Du’n ko na-appreciate siya sa buhay ko.”
Julius: “As her coach and partner, I experience many things. I see her all the time, and you know, you go through her emotions, you have to deal with all that and the physicial pain she goes through and also the losses. Everything she shoulders on her, I have to experience, I will experience.”
Hidilyn: “Malaki ang impact niya sa akin, so kung maging successful or gold medalist ako sa Olympics, parte siya ng success ko.”
