The Philippines’ iconic Christmas heralds – Jose Mari Chan and the Festival of Lights – are coming together to signal that the “Ber” months are less than 30 days away.
Jose Mari Chan, whose songs have been heralding the world’s longest Christmas celebration that begins in September in the Philippines, is set to craft a new Christmas medley of songs to accompany the 2021 virtual edition of the annual Ayala Land and Make it Makati’s Festival of Lights.
Ayala Land refers to Chan’s earlier works like “Christmas in Our Hearts” and “Count Your Blessings” with their thoughtful lyrics and beautiful melody as the reference for the new music to sync to the Festival of Lights.
“The Festival of Lights is an event that people look forward to every year. I remember around 3 years ago when I was invited to perform right here at Ayala Triangle Gardens. I am glad that I was invited to be part of this festival that everyone looks forward to,” shares Jose Mari Chan.
Last 2020, the Festival of Lights held its first-ever virtual event via Facebook and YouTube. Typically held at Ayala Triangle Gardens, the venue was recreated and designed within the digital space to present a 360-degree animation, fueled with an exciting orchestration of laser lights, string lights, meteor lights, holograms, and helix lights dancing to modernized renditions of traditional songs.
“What touched me most about the Festival of Lights: Virtual Edition is how it reached millions of Filipinos, especially those who are living in other countries and were unable to come home to their families for Christmas. It was an experience that families were able to share together even when they were apart. We hope that this year’s light show will continue to bring the same joy and meaning to you and your loved ones,” muses Makati Estate’s Shiella Aguilar.
“This year, we want to make our 2nd virtual light and sound show even more meaningful and special. While fun fare and merrymaking are part of the Christmas celebration, we want to remind everyone that the real reason for the season is the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. And to bring this to life, no one would ever come close to a Philippine music icon whose Christmas songs were all written from the heart and capture the true essence of Christmas,” added Chrissy Roa of Ayala Land Estates.
This November 2021, Ayala Land is hosting the annual event virtually once again in partnership with Globe Studios led by filmmaker and director, Quark Henares.
