Lav Diaz named Jury Chairman of France’s Marseille International Film Fest

Filipino filmmaker Lav Diaz leads the judging of the International Competition.

Acclaimed Filipino filmmaker Lav Diaz has been named Jury President of the 32nd FIDMarseille International Film Festival in France.

The multi-awarded director from the Philippines was chosen as Chairman of the International Competition Jury in the competition to be held from July 19-25, 2021, in several venues in Marseille centered around La Canebière.

The Oscars’ Academy member will judge the 15 films selected for the International Competition along with jury members producer Carine Chichkowsky (France), director and editor Jelena Maksimović (Serbia), director and programmer Victor Iriarte (Spain), and film critic Nick Pinkerton (United States).

The Film Development Council of the Philippines congratulated Diaz while announcing his appointment to the prestigious international film event.

Lav Diaz won the Orizzonti Award for Best Director at the 2020 Venice International Film Festival.
