The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) commended the honesty of four coast guard personnel patrolling quarantine hotels for returning a lost wallet containing more than PHP10,000 in cash and important identification cards.
According to the PCG report, the wallet was found by coast guard personnel in a Covid quarantine hotel in Manila on April 8, 2021.
The coast guard personnel coordinated with the front desk officer of the hotel to contact the Davaoena owner of the lost wallet containing over 10,500 pesos and 2,020 baht worth of cash, as well as personal ID cards.
The PCG personnel who returned the lost wallet were identified as Petty Officer Third Class (PO3) Ednalyn A. Maharail PCG, Apprentice Seaman (ASN) Jeon Moses A. Enriquez PCG, ASN Arnie S. Magsipoc, and Candidate Coast Guardsman (CCGM) Leo S. Tumenez.
The owner of the wallet who works as a Mandarin Interpreter in Manila expressed her sincere gratitude to the team for their commendable honesty and integrity.
The good deed also earned praise from netizens on social media who thanked the PCG personnel for being an inspiration to many during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Another Filipino coast guard, Ralph Ofalla Barajan, exemplified heroism and integrity and recently received the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea after saving Siargao Princess passengers in November 2019.
