The Filipino TV series “Amaya” is now again available on GMA Pinoy TV, the flagship international channel of GMA Network, for the enjoyment of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
GMA Pinoy TV announced the good news on its social media that one of the biggest production in Philippine TV history is back on air on August 26, 2020, as part of its 15th-anniversary offerings.
“Kapuso abroad, simula August 26, muli n’yo nang masisilayan ang ganda at kadakilaan ni “Amaya” sa GMA Pinoy TV!” the Pinoy media group said on its Facebook post.
Amaya is a historical fiction based in the 16th century pre-Hispanic setting in Visayas, Central Philippines. It tells the story of a binukot or a hidden princess who is turned into a slave by her enemies.
However, she emerges as a babaylan or priestess and then fulfills her destiny of being a female warrior to save her people from ruthless a rajah. Later, she becomes the most powerful woman of her time.
The epikserye presents the ancient Filipino beliefs, pre-colonial political system and social structure, agriculture, language, costumes, warfare, marriage, the system of writing, and more in visually stunning production values.
The well-researched and multi-awarded TV series top-billed by Marian Rivera first aired on GMA Network from May 2011 to January 2012, had a replay on GMA News TV years after, and shown in different parts of Asia. It is currently available on YouTube.
