Jaja Santiago contributed 11 points in the winning game.

The new champions clinched the gold medal after sweeping all its games in Division 1 of the Japan V Cup and defeating JT Marvelous in the semifinals match.

The Japan V Cup championship trophy adds to Santiago’s previous achievement in 2020 as the first-ever Filipino import to win a bronze medal at the Japanese Volleyball Premiere League.

The Filipino spiker from Cavite played for the Philippine National Women’s Volleyball Team and the National University before joining the Japan Volleyball League in 2018.

Filipino spikers have shown their skills in international tourneys, among them, Marck Espejo, the first Filipino to play in Japan’s top volleyball league after joining Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler team in 2018.
