Muntinlupa Skyway girder falls, 3 injur3d

The boom crane gave way without being able to withstand its load and crashed into several vehicles during the ongoing Skyway project on the East Service Road part of Barangay Cupang.

Sadly, three persons were injured and six vehicles were damaged when a steel girder of the Skyway extension project collapsed in Bgy. Cupang, Muntinlupa Saturday morning (November 21).

According to the Muntinlupa City Department of Disaster Resilience and Management (MCDDRM), the contractor of the Skyway extension was using a crane to install a girder when the girder fell at about 8:50 a.m. along East Service Road in Bgy. Cupang.

Initial reports by MCDDRM showed that three persons were injured and rushed to a hospital in Alabang for treatment.

Based on the report of Manila Bulleting, six vehicles were damaged: a taxi, an L300 van, an SUV and three motorcycles, according to Danidon Nolasco, head of the Muntinlupa Traffic Management Bureau (MTMB).

Because of the accident, the northbound and southbound lanes of the East Service Road from Alabang to Sucat were closed to traffic.

Motorists can use the following alternate routes: West Service Road, Alabang-Zapote Road, M.L. Quezon (Baybayin and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).

Nolasco said the East Service Road will be closed until the area is cleared.
