The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is set to launch a free-to-download e-book about health and COVID-19 with creative and artistic content for children.

“Sa Pagbabasa, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa” e-book which contains a collection of children’s books, artworks, comics, and other artistic and literary works about the ongoing pandemic will be launched on November 27, 2020.

The CCP through its Intertextual Division aims to educate the young minds of Filipino children while championing the importance of reading literacy and nurturing the child’s imagination through reading relevant materials.

In a Facebook announcement on November 18, the CCP said the launching of the free e-book is part of its celebration of the CCP Children’s Biennale that also accords with its commitment to promoting and developing Philippine children’s literature.

“Amidst the current social climate and pandemic, the e-book hopes to bring an encouraging message that can alleviate social isolation and generate a sense of purpose,” CCP wrote.

The book project also provides the public – especially schools and parents with accessible published literature created by Filipino writers, and illustrators from different regions of the country that informs the children how to protect themselves from the global health threat.

A story-telling session of a book titled “Masama Bang Humiling Ng Isa Pang Araw?” written and illustrated by Teacher Oliver V. Arevalo of Olongapo City will also be part of the launching ceremony.

The virtual launching event will happen on November 27, 2020, at 4 pm via CCP and CCP Intertextual Division’s Facebook pages.

University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) has also published two free-to-download children’s e-books explaining practices during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A series of GIF storybooks released in the Philippines are teaching kids about personal safety on the internet.

SEND CHEERS in the comments below to the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) for offering a free artistic e-book for children about health and COVID-19.
