Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla suspended the operation of SM City Trece Martires for directly violating one of the quarantine rules enforced in the province.
The governor reveals on his social media account that he orders an undercover police officers to patrol in shopping malls throughout Cavite on July 22. It is to find out if they are complying with the policies enforced in the provincial regulations to combat the spread of COVID- 19.
Gov. Jonvic Remulla allegedly receives a video showing that SM Trece Martires violated the quarantine pass or Q-Pass system rule.
“One of the policies that we have never removed or stopped here in Cavite is the use of the Quarantine Pass or Q-Pass system. This is to limit the movement of people in areas where there is transmission or infection.
Recently, I received a video where SM City Trece Martires’ shows direct violation of Cavite’s Q-Pass Policy can be seen,” he said.
In the video taken by the undercover PNP personnel, people are entering the shopping mall. Next, the guards assigned to the entrance take their temperature one by one. Then, they also sprinkle rubbing alcohol on the hands of each person entering.
Nevertheless, the video clearly shows that the mallgoers are no longer required to show a quarantine pass.
“Guidelines are meant to put order into controlling the pandemic situation. For those who think that the worst is over, you are mistaken. Therefore, it is going to get worse before things get better,” said the Cavite governor.
“Collective responsibility means if we arrest the small people in the streets for face mask violation or public intoxication, then we should also close down the big malls if they violate the Q-Pass Policy set by the LGU,” he said.
In conclusion, by an executive order, SM City Trece Martires’ operation is suspended until further notice.
