Chinita Princess Kim Chiu’s “Bawal Lumabas” fundraiser has turned her from an online hate victim into an inspiring helper of the poor sectors affected by the COVID 19 pandemic.
The story of how Kim Chiu’s infamous “Bawal Lumabas” statement spurred her into making it into a hit song, creating T-shirt merchandise, and overcoming the cyberbullying, was revealed by the actress herself in a video released on social media on June 29, 2020.
Kim expressed her emotions on the “Bawal Lumabas Journey” posted on Youtube and her FB page.
“Life goes on and life teaches you lessons and this is my lesson. I hope I inspired my ‘classmates’ over there to keep going despite challenges,” Kim said.
DONATIONS
Kim Chiu sold her T-shirt-for-a-cause worth Php 295 each with the famous “Bawal Lumabas” and “Law of Classroom” designs.
The funds she raised from the t-shirt sales allowed her to give food packages to transport sectors who were hit hard by the lockdown that stopped public transportation.
Chiu managed to provide 1,500 food packs to jeepney drivers, taxi drivers, tricycle drivers, and victims of the fire in Tondo. She was also able to donate Php 300,000 to fellow actresses Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis’ Shop & Share auction to provide COVID 19 test kits to the poor.
BAWAL LUMABAS
The Kapamilya actress launched her “Bawal Lumabas” merchandise after her infamous speech on the “Laban Kapamilya”, an online rally of ABS-CBN celebrities on May 8.
The famous “Law of Classroom” remarks of the popular celebrity received enormous backlash from the online haters but she managed to turn the lemons into lemonade by producing a whole song about it.
Adrian Crisanto, marketing specialist, and DJ Squammy, arranger of the song, helped Kim Chiu produce the trending song that hit 10 million views on the first day of its release.
The ABS-CBN actress used her trending status to inspire and provide help to people affected by the lockdown through her merchandise.
“At least napasaya ko yung mga tao sa gitna ng pandemic,” she shared.
(At least I made people happy despite the pandemic.)
“I’ve learned so much and let’s always be reminded to spread kindness, love and generosity. Dahil kung ano ibibigay mo sa kapwa mo, ‘yun din matatanggap mo,” Kim added.
(… Because what you send out to others comes back to you.)
The Filipino actress overcame the hate with the love and support from her friends and fans.
In the last part of “Bawal Lumabas Journey,” Kim said, “This is your classmate, Kim. Nakapag-comply na, now, pwede na akong lumabas.”
Filipino celebrities are pouring their support to our fellow Filipinos affected by the quarantine and Covid-19 pandemic.
Other artists who contributed to the Shop & Share Ph fundraiser for test kits are singer Mark Bautista whose paintings raised Php 410,000 and OPM legend Ogie Alcasid with his collectible toy donation.
SEND CHEERS to Kim Chiu for turning her “Bawal Lumabas” incident into a beautiful story of overcoming cyberbullying and moving on by helping poor sectors.
