The Philippines’ pageant representative, Mark Joseph “MJ” Macalintal, made the country proud by winning first runner-up at the recently concluded Man Hot Star International 2024.
The 23-year-old culinary graduate from Caloocan City outshone other candidates from various countries, securing first runner-up in the international male pageant held on December 5 at Columbia Pictures Aquaverse in Bangkok. Patrick Bevis of Thailand ultimately took home the crown.
Macalintal’s accomplishment nearly mirrored the achievements of his predecessors, Jovy Bequillo and RJ De Vera, who won back-to-back Man Hot Star International titles in 2022 and 2023. In addition to his first runner-up finish, the Filipino pageant king was honored with the Best in Swimwear and Popular Vote Awards.

- Grand Winner – Patrick Bevis, Thailand
- First Runner-up – MJ Macalintal, Philippines
- Second Runner-up – Vương Quốc Khánh, Vietnam

With his successful pageant stint in Thailand, Macalintal joins the ranks of Filipino male pageant contenders who have brought pride and glory to the Philippines by winning or securing placements in their respective international competitions.
In July this year, Guam-born half-Filipino Brandon Espiritu was named Mister Supranational 2024 Second Runner-up in Poland.
Kenneth Cabungcal of Negros Occidental followed Espiritu’s achievement by earning First Runner-up at the Man of the World 2024 pageant held in Manila.
In August, Cebuano professor and mining engineer Nathaniel Tiu clinched the title of Mister Earth International in Colombia.
