De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) has achieved a historic milestone, breaking into the Asia Top 100 Green Universities at 72nd place and maintaining its reign as the greenest university in the Philippines for the 12th consecutive year in the 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings (UIGM WUR). The Cavite-based university also climbed to 143rd globally, advancing 87 places from its 2023 ranking.
This year, DLSU-D led a record 63 Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) included in the first Green Campus Ranking initiated by Universitas Indonesia, nearly tripling the country’s participation from 22 last year.
The 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, released on December 12, evaluated 1,477 institutions from 95 countries based on six key sustainability categories: Setting and Infrastructure (15%), Energy and Climate Change (21%), Waste (18%), Water (10%), Transportation (18%), and Education and Research (18%).
This comprehensive assessment considers factors such as campus size, zoning profile, green spaces, electricity consumption, and overall performance in the six indicators. The rankings aim to highlight universities’ commitment to advancing sustainability and environmental excellence globally.
