Chelsea Manalo, the Philippines’ Miss Universe contender, may not have clinched the crown, but she created history and earned the admiration of Filipinos worldwide. Manalo’s groundbreaking achievement as the first-ever Miss Universe Asia, a new title introduced by the Miss Universe Organization, cements her legacy as an icon of beauty, diversity, and Filipino pride.
The beauty queen delivered a strong performance during the preliminary competition and successfully advanced to the semifinals at the grand coronation held at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City on November 17, 2024 (Philippine time). However, she exited the pageant early after falling short of securing a spot in the Top 12.

Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark eventually won the competition, taking home the Filipino-made “The Light of Infinity” crown.
Despite not securing the Philippines’ fifth Miss Universe crown, the 25-year-old beauty of Filipino and African-American descent made history as the first-ever Miss Universe Asia awarded during the post-pageant media conference—a new title introduced by the Miss Universe Organization.

- First Runner-up – Chidimma Adetshina, Nigeria
- Second Runner-up – Maria Fernanda Beltran, Mexico

With her new pageant title, Manalo is set to travel around Asia and participate in several official Miss Universe Organization events.
This is not the first time a Filipina has been honored as a continental beauty queen. In July of this year, Manalo’s fellow Bulakenya, Alethea Ambrosio, was crowned Miss Supranational Asia and Oceania during the Miss Supranational grand coronation held in Nowy SÄ…cz, Poland.
