The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has resumed issuing Postal IDs at all registration and capturing sites nationwide. The Postal ID, a recognized government-issued ID, serves as an address verification tool to ensure the proper delivery of letters and parcels, similar to systems used by other postal administrations worldwide.
The Postal ID also plays a crucial role in verifying identity and address for government and private institutions. PHLPost offers the Postal ID Online Verification System (POVS) to enhance security by enabling organizations to verify the authenticity of the presented ID through a web portal.

“Do not share personal or financial information, whether it’s via Facebook, e-mail, phone call, or text message. Apply for a Postal ID only at PHLPost offices,” warned Postmaster General Luis Carlos, urging the public to avoid scams offering ID processing assistance through social media. “We expect that people will be going to renew or apply for a Postal ID card at the very least, and the public should be aware not to fall from scammers who will try to get money and obtain their personal information.”
The Postal ID is also accepted as a primary document for passport applications with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). It holds a three-year validity and will be delivered directly to the applicant’s address, ensuring accurate address verification.

To simplify the process, applications must be submitted in person at designated post offices, where applicants will have their photo, fingerprints, and signature captured. The Postal ID will also be incorporated with the new seven-digit alphanumeric ZIP code system, which will soon replace the old four-digit format to standardize addressing nationwide.
Additionally, PHLPost plans to roll out mobile enrollment services in barangays, businesses, and events to bring the Postal ID closer to communities.

The Postal ID, endorsed by the Universal Postal Union, is widely accepted in government and financial transactions. PHLPost continues to enhance its delivery services through its “Postal Trinity” initiative, which includes establishing Barangay Postal Stations for last-mile delivery and developing the Kartero App (K-App) to modernize mail tracking in real-time.
