Philippine higher education has once again made its mark on the world stage. The Asian Institute of Management (AIM), University of the Philippines Manila (UP Manila), and University of the Philippines Diliman (UP Diliman) have been listed in the elite Global 2000 list by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). This prestigious list ranks the best-performing institutions worldwide in terms of employability in 2023.

The CWUR, known for its comprehensive and transparent ranking system, evaluated over 20,000 global education institutions. The top 10% of these universities made it to the Global 2000 list. This year, AIM, UP Manila, and UP Diliman stood out not only within the Philippines but also in the global arena.

  1. AIM led the way in the Philippines ranking within the global top 6.7%, a world rank of #1375, and clinching the 47th spot in employability.
  2. UP Manila secured its place in the top 8.3% with a world rank of #1687, an employability rank of 986, and a research rank of 1619.
  3. UP Diliman landed in the top 9% of universities worldwide, taking its spot at world rank #1832, and earning a research rank of 1761.

The CWUR rankings evaluate universities across four key pillars: education, employability, faculty, and research. These rankings are generated without reliance on surveys and university data submissions, instead utilizing 62 million outcome-based data points to generate an unbiased list of the top academic institutions.

The Global 2000 List focus on the quality of education, alumni employment, faculty excellence, and research prowess. The CWUR measures the professional success of each university’s alumni and counts the number of CEOs among them who have held positions at Forbes’ top 2000 global companies since 2011.

The 2023 edition of the Global 2000 list released on May 15, the twelfth of its kind, is led by Harvard University. Yet, the notable presence of AIM, UP Manila, and UP Diliman on this list is a resounding validation of the quality of education these Philippine institutions provide and the career successes they cultivate among their graduates.

The Center for World University Rankings is a leading consulting organization that advises governments and universities on improving educational and research outcomes. Its rankings are trusted worldwide by students, academics, university administrators, and governments.

Philippine higher education institutions’ performance in the 2023 Global 2000 list demonstrates the robustness of the country’s higher education system and its potential to create world leaders.

AIM, UP Manila, and UP Diliman were also on the EduRank 2023 list of best universities and the Eduniversal Ranking for best masters programs.
