How to Register Your Phone, Internet SIM Cards to Avoid Deactivation

Philippine telcos announced their respective registration processes ahead of December 27. Globe and Smart posters.

Good News Pilipinas tells you how to register your phone and internet subscriber identity module (SIM) card to avoid the deactivation of your number.

The first day of the mandatory registration of new and existing prepaid and postpaid SIM numbers begins today, December 27, 2022, per the National Telecommunications Commission implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the SIM Card Registration Act.

Smart Communications, Globe Telecom, and DITO mobile phone and internet subscribers using SIM Cards are given 180 days from today until April 26, 2023, to register their SIM cards.

Here are the processes of registration as announced by Smart, Globe, and Dito:

Smart Communications

Smart Communications requires 3 steps to register prepaid SIM Cards:

  1. Scan the QR code below or visit https://smart.com.ph/simreg to register.
  2. Input your information.
  3. Wait for SMS confirmation and get 3GB of FREE data.

Smart Postpaid subscribers need only to take one step: Text YES to 5858 and receive a confirmation SMS.

Globe Telecom

Globe Telecom requires 3 steps for prepaid subscribers:

  1. Visit https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg to register or scan the QR code below.
  2. Provide info and government ID.
  3. Wait for a text confirmation.

Globe Postpaid subscribers will be directly notified of how to confirm their registration.

DITO Telecommunity

DITO Telecommunity new subscribers can register via the SMS link they receive upon inserting the SIM card.

Existing Subscribers can register via the DITO APP.

Required Information:

SIM Card registration will collect the following personal information of the owner:

  • Full name
  • Birthday
  • Sex
  • Present or official address
  • Identification card and ID number

Minors:

  • SIM cards used by minors will be registered under the name of the parent or guardian.

Tourists and Foreigners:

  • Tourists can acquire SIM cards with a validity of 30 days.
  • Foreign nationals with other types of visas are not restricted by the 30-day validity period.
