Philippines’ Teenage boy group wins K-Pop Cover Dance Fest

The Philippines’ Teenage boy group won this year’s K-Pop Cover Dance Festival (KCDF) in Seoul, South Korea, the world’s first and largest K-pop online/offline Hallyu fan communication program.

The Filipino dance group represented the country at the World Finals round of the annual competition and was named among the top three winners along with teams from the United States and Thailand.

Teenage showed off dance skills and performed to hit songs Reveal and The Stealer by South Korean boy group The Boyz in the world finals of the tilt which aims to celebrate Korean culture and music.

The members of the boy group who competed in this year’s dance festival are Mark Steven Batuhan, Ian Racan, Raven Esguerra, Ronzo Balmadrid, Owen Ylaya, Alberto Daus Jr., Iron Sumulong, Jhay Hong Ki, Era Solidor, Francis James Santos, and Kenshin Navarro.

Teenage won over 13 other country finalists in the National KCDF held in August 2022, three years after its last run in 2019. Teenage also won the previous edition and in fact, bagged another first prize win in the K-Pop Cover Dance Festival World Finals held in Gwanghwamun Plaza, Seoul the same year.

A total of 87 national winners from countries including Poland, Mexico, Australia, Japan, and Indonesia, among others, participated in the final round of the dance contest.

The winners of the K-Pop Cover Dance Festival were announced during the finals held on October 15, 2022, at Nodeul Island, Han River.

The K-Pop Cover Dance Festival was hosted by the Seoul Shinmun Daily newspaper and Korean Cultural Centres around the world.

Teenage also bagged the first prize in the K-Pop Cover Dance Festival World Finals held in Gwanghwamun Plaza, Seoul in 2019.

Another Filipino performer, Andree “AC” Bonifacio, previously won silver at Korean-pop group BlackPink’s dance cover contest while Pinoy pop groups SB19, ALAMAT, and BGYO continue to top global music charts and achieve international recognition.
