Hollywood top comedian Jo Koy and the team behind his upcoming film “Easter Sunday” have donated $75,000 to the Filipino-American nonprofit organization Search To Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA) in support of its programs that uplift small businesses, youth, and their families.

The stand-up comedy sensation teamed up with Dan Lin, one of the film’s producers, to make the donation to the charity organization during the inaugural Rise for Comedy festival held at Historic Filipinotown’s Rideback Ranch in Los Angeles, California.

SIPA announced on social media that the organization is the recipient of a generous donation from the Fil-Am star and the team behind “Easter Sunday.”

“Last Tuesday, SIPA was the proud recipient of $75,000 thanks to @jokoy @ridebackranch @universalpictures @amblin and the @eastersunday team!” SIPA announced in a Facebook post on July 30, 2022.

The Filipinotown-based charity said that the donation will support its programs for the youth and small businesses in the area.

“Thank you to Jo Koy for being a great example of moving the community forward and keeping the door open for others to enter. Your stories are relatable to many other Filipinos in America and we thank you for creating a seat for us at the table,” the non-profit continued.

“We are grateful for your support as it will allow us to support programs that uplift small business, enrich our young people’s knowledge of their roots, and normalize mental health practices,” SIPA added.

The “Easter Sunday” star hosted the festival and presented the donation alongside Lin to SIPA board officers, according to the Variety report.

Jo Koy is starring in “Easter Sunday,” a film centered on a Filipino-American family during their Easter celebration. It will hit theaters ahead of his performance in Manila this August.

Filipino-Americans who gave back to their communities include the National Football League’s Camryn Bynum who visited the Philippines for the first time to help victims of Typhoon Agaton in his hometown and the Houston Rockets’ Jalen Green who helped create a Filipinx Night Market to support Filipino-Canadian businesses.
