Three Filipino dining spots have made it to the 100 Asia’s Best Restaurants list this year despite the comparatively slower reopening of the Philippine economy.
Gallery by Chele in Bonifacio Global City, Antonio’s Tagaytay in Cavite, and Toyo Eatery in Makati City were named among the top 51-100 Asia’s Best Restaurants for 2022.
Gallery by Chele took the 69th spot, Antonio’s Tagaytay placed 74th, and three-time Top 50 restaurant Toyo Eatery was in 94th rank in the list released one week ahead of the 50 Asia’s Best Restaurants revealed on March 29.
Chef Jordy Navarra’s Toyo Eatery was recognized by the Best Restaurants Academy for the fourth time. The Makati City spot ranked 49th in 2021, 44th in 2020, and 43rd in 2019.
Chef Tonyboy Escalante’s Antonio’s Tagaytay, the first Filipino restaurant to be listed in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, was in 84th place in 2021.
Chefs Chele Gonzalez and Carlos Villaflor’s Gallery By Chele ranked 90th in the same edition.
The 2022 Asia’s Best Restaurants list chosen by 300 of the world’s culinary leaders and topped by Japan’s DEN at No.1, included the homegrown Filipino restaurants among some of Asia’s hottest gastronomic destinations across 12 countries and territories and included 25 first-time entries.
