The lowest COVID-19 Alert Level 1 is set to take effect in 38 areas in the Philippines this March 1-15, 2022.

Two years after the strictest lockdown was enforced in the country in March 2020, the least restrictive quarantine and health protocols are being observed in the National Capital Region (NCR) and in 38 areas of the country.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) released Resolution No. 163-A on February 27, listing the areas under Alert Level 1 for areas where COVID-19 case transmission is low and decreasing, and with low total bed utilization rate and intensive care unit utilization rate.

The IATF also announced the 66 areas under Alert Level 2 which covers areas wherein case transmissions are low and decreasing, healthcare utilization is low, or case counts are low but increasing, or case counts are low and decreasing but total bed utilization rate and intensive care unit utilization rate is increasing.

The announcement came as the Philippines marked decreasing COVID-19 cases and staying below the 2,000 range.

The Department of Health reminds everyone of the following:

  • Intrazonal and interzonal travel shall be allowed without regard to age and comorbidities.
  • All establishments, persons, or activities, are allowed to operate, work, or be undertaken at full on-site or venue/seating capacity provided it is consistent with minimum public health standards; provided further, that face to face classes for basic education shall be subject to prior approval of the Office of the President.

CHECK THIS for details on what is allowed and not allowed under Alert Levels 1 and 2.

The nationwide Alert Level System replaces the quarantine classifications comprised of ECQ, MECQ, GCQ, and MGCQ.
