Cop sees a woman walking 12 miles to work every day, surprises her with a gift.

The morning was cold, and Sergeant Bass was standing guard when he noticed the lady dressed nicely. He assumed she was going to work, but he decided to follow his instincts and have a quick conversation with her, not realizing it would be a life-changing decision for both of them. She introduced herself as Jaylesya Corbett and explained that she worked at a Bojangles six miles away from her home. He was taken aback when he heard this. He couldn’t understand how this woman could walk 12 miles to work and back every day.

Jaylesya took about an hour and a half to get to work and then the same amount of time to walk back home. And this did not happen on a sporadic basis, but rather on a daily basis. Sergeant Bass felt bad for Jaylesya and promised himself that he would find a way to make her commute to work easier.

From then on, he would take her for a ride whenever he could, especially when the weather was bad. However, he was aware that it was not a long-term solution, so he went to the nearest Walmart to see if they could assist. He told them about Jaylesya’s strong work ethic and perseverance, and they gave her a free bike as a result.

A new bike cut the commute in half and was far superior to walking that many miles. Jaylesya was overjoyed with the gift, but she was even more grateful for people like Sgt. Bass who are dedicated to helping others and making the world a better place.
