The Philippine Women’s National Football Team climbed to its highest placement on the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) world ranking ahead of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Asian Cup finals to be played in India by January 2022.
Team Philippines moved up to 64th place in the FIFA Women’s Ranking of 176 national football associations released on December 10, 2021 – one spot from its 65th rank in 2020 and three notches since its biggest-ever jump to 67th spot in 2019.
The Filipina squad now ranks No. 13 in Asia and No. 5 in Southeast Asia.
The Malditas squad’s new rank is based on its score of 1385.64 total points, up 16.64 points from its previous 1369 points.
The Philippines’ Malditas qualified for the continental finals after topping its qualifiers group matches in September.
The Philippine Women’s National Football Team will see action in Group B with football powerhouses Australia and Thailand, and Indonesia at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup to be held from January 20 to February 6, 2022.
The Malditas are aiming to power its way through the AFC Women’s Asian Cup to clinch its first FIFA Women’s World Cup appearance.
