Filipina Team Lakay fighter Jenelyn Olsim has barged into the semifinals of the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix tournament.

Olsim earned a slot to compete in one of the tournament semifinal bouts after replacing unbeaten Itsuki Hirata of Japan, who has withdrawn from the event.

The Benguet native faces India’s Ritu Phogat at “ONE: NEXT GEN” set to be broadcast live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore on Friday, October 29, 2021.

Olsim was originally scheduled to face Jihin Radzuan in a World Grand Prix alternate bout but is now preparing for the biggest moment in her career as she squares off against Phogat.

The Filipino mixed martial arts (MMA) star defeated Vietnamese-American Bi “Killer Bee” Nguyen in her atomweight debut in August and will now try her skills against Phogat to advance to the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Championship Final.

The 24-year-old Filipina phenom previously won medals for the Philippines in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games and the East Asian Muaythai Championships.

The Baguio-based champions’ gym of Team Lakay is the home of ONE world champions Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, and Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon.
