The Gilas Pilipinas Men’s Basketball Team is on an undefeated run at the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Asia Cup Qualifiers after trouncing Indonesia in the third and final window of the tournament.
Team Philippines’ young squad displayed its domination on the boards against Indonesia, delivering a final score of 76-51 and giving the host country its fifth win in as many games.
The Philippine National Team also dominated Indonesia in their meeting in Jakarta last February 2020.
Gilas afterward executed a two-game run against Thailand in Bahrain when the games resumed in November 2020.
Prior to its trouncing of Indonesia in their June 18, 2021 match played in Angeles University Foundation in Pampanga, Gilas Pilipinas delivered a buzzer-beating win over South Korea.
A day before cementing its 5-0 perfect run, the national squad was announced on June 17 to have already qualified for the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup as the top-ranked team of Group A which includes Korea, Indonesia, and Thailand.
The Philippines will again meet 2nd-ranked South Korea on June 20 for the final game in the Clark Bubble hosted by the Philippines after Qatar gave up its hosting duties amidst the Covid-19 restrictions.
