Nine Filipinos named in A100 List of Most Impactful Asians

Nine Filipinos have made it to Gold House’s annual A100 List to celebrate Asians, Asian-Americans, and Pacific Islanders (APIs) and their impactful contributions to society.

The A100 List that honors the most influential members of the Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander community for API Heritage Month in May includes outstanding individuals of Filipino descent who are leaders in business and innovation such as Carlo Katigbak (ABS-CBN Corporation President), Miriam Warren (Chief Diversity Officer of Yelp), Melanie Perkins (Co-Founder of Canva), and Manny Maceda (Worldwide Managing Partner of Bain & Company).

Filipino-American figures in sports and entertainment entered the prestigious list including Erik Spoelstra (Miami Heat Head Coach), Patrick Starrr (YouTube celebrity), H.E.R. (Oscar winner), Olivia Rodrigo (singer-songwriter), and Saweetie (multi-platinum artist).

The honorees were chosen through a rigorous process by a prestigious panel of Icon Judges that included Filipino Broadway royalty Lea Salonga, Mastercard Executive Chairman Ajay Banga, Panda Express Co-CEOs Andrew, and Peggy Cherng, among others.

Here are the 9 Filipinos named to the A100 Most Impactful Asians list:

Carlo L. Katigbak
President & CEO, ABS-CBN Corporation

Carlo L. Katigbak is the president and chief executive officer of ABS-CBN Corporation, the Philippines’ oldest revision network.

Erik Spoelstra
Head Coach, Miami Heat

As the head coach for the Miami Heat, Erik Spoelstra is the first Asian American to hold that title in any of the four major North American sports leagues. He is also the first Asian American head coach to ever win an NBA championship, which the team secured in 2012 and 2013.

Spoelstra has been voted as the Best Head Coach in the 2020-2021 NBA season.

H.E.R.
Grammy & Oscar Winning Musician

Singer and songwriter H.E.R. whose real name is Gabriella “Gabi” Sarmiento Wilson, is a four-time Grammy award winner.

Wilson’s song about racial injustice entitled, “I Can’t Breathe,” was awarded Song of the Year. She was most recently awarded an Oscar for Best Original Song for “Fight for You”, a track inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement written for the film, “Judas and the Black Messiah”.

Manny Maceda
Worldwide Managing Partner, Bain & Company

Manny Maceda is the Worldwide Managing Partner and Chairman of the Board of Bain & Company.

Melanie Perkins
CEO & Co-Founder, Canva

Melanie Perkins is CEO and co-founder of Canva, an online design and publishing tool which makes graphic design simple for everyone.

Forbes Asia earlier placed the spotlight on Canva’s Melanie Perkins who has been named the youngest among the 117 billionaires in Australia and the third richest woman in the country.

Miriam Warren
Chief Diversity Officer, Yelp

Miriam Warren is the Chief Diversity Officer at Yelp and Board Chair of the Yelp Foundation, which counts nonprofits like La Cocina in San Francisco and Hot Bread Kitchen in New York among its grantees.

Olivia Rodrigo
Singer/Songwriter

Filipino-American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo’s record-breaking new original single, “drivers license” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, held the top spot for eight consecutive weeks and is the first song this year to be RIAA Certified at Gold, Platinum, and double-Platinum.

Along with debuting at No. 1 across major streaming services, “drivers license” also broke the Spotify record for the most single-day streams for a non-holiday song and had the biggest weekly streaming debut for any song globally in Spotify history.

Patrick Starrr

Saweetie
Rapper/Songwriter, Actress, & Entrepreneur

Saweetie is a multi-platinum, chart-topping artist who has established herself as a powerhouse in the entertainment industry.
