Various calls for donations to the University of the Philippines Philippine General Hospital (UP PGH) have circulated on social media following the fire on Sunday that hit the facility.
The Bureau of Fire Protection reported that the fire that broke out on the third floor of the PGH main building after midnight reached the third alarm and lasted until just before 6 am. No injuries were reported but patients were evacuated, including Covid-19 patients and babies.
THE UP PGH is a Covid-referral center and has been at the forefront of innovative responses to the pandemic such as the convalescent plasma transfusion, telekumusta electronic visits, and the country’s first Covid-19 test kit.
Different organizations have launched donation drives for both cash and in-kind supplies to help the patients.
Donations can be coursed to any of the following:
UP Bayanihan Na Operations Center
UP Fighting Maroons drive
The PGH said it would temporarily suspend the admission of new patients.
