The Philippines’ sprint star Kristina Knott continues to boost her bid for a spot in the Tokyo Olympics after winning a silver medal in the Pure Athletics Spring Invitational in Clermont, Florida.
Knott finished in a time of 11.36 seconds, behind Ecuadorian athlete Angela Tenoria who took the gold in 11.33 seconds during the women’s 100-meter sprints on April 4, 2021.
The 25-year-old Filipino-American athlete improved on her 11.54 second-performance at the 93rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in late March, where she also took the silver.
Kristina Knott is best known for eclipsing fellow Filipino sprint queen Lydia de Vega’s Southeast Asian Games (SEA) Games record in the 100-meter dash made 33 years ago.
Knott is set to compete in the Miramar Invitational and another race in Florida, in the coming weeks.
SEA Games double-gold medalist Kristina Knott hopes to join fellow Filipino top athletes pole vaulter Ernest Obiena, gymnast Carlos Yulo, and pugs Eumir Marcial and Irish Magno who have already qualified for the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
