The Philippines’ Alexandra “Alex” Eala executed a come-from-behind win at the W60 Bellinzona pro tournament in Switzerland and will move on to the third round of the competition for the $60,000 prize pot.

The 15-year-old Filipino tennis champion overcame the first set win of Romania’s 32-year-old ace, Laura-Ioana Paar, to force a tiebreaker and eventually emerged victorious, 6-7, 6-1, 6-0, in their Round 2 match on April 7, 2021.

The win is a repeat victory for the WTA No. 715-ranked Eala who faced the WTA No. 206 Paar in a Round 1 match at the W25 Grenoble, France Pro Tournament in February.

Eala, who entered the tour through the Junior Exempt program as the World No. 3 Junior player, earlier swept her debut match in Switzerland against Margot Yerolymos of France.

The reigning Australian Open Doubles Champion won her first professional championship title at the W15 Manacor in Spain last January.

The Filipino teen tennis sensation is set to have another rematch battle this time with hometown bet Simona Waltert, a wildcard entry from Switzerland, on April 8. The two women met two times in Spain in March, with Eala winning the W25 Manacor first-round match and Waltert taking the W15 Manacor opening game.
