Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo and her team were welcomed with Pinoy hospitality and Filipino food from Lutong Bahay Filipino Cuisine when the group arrived in Florida to campaign for the beauty pageant crown.
The Miss Universe Philippines organization thanked the Filipino restaurant for giving the pageant team “a taste of home” as it posted a photo of the meal delivery of Filipino dishes that included Lechon kawali, sinigang na hipon, pork barbecue, Filipino-style fried chicken, and turon.
Last April 20, the Miss Universe Philippines Florida team’s Kirsten Regalado also posted photos of Rabiya Mateo and her group eating at the restaurant and enjoying the makeshift sari-sari stores and Pinoy products.
Iloilo City’s Rabiya Mateo is in the United States to campaign to win the Philippines’ 5th Miss Universe title, following the four Filipina Miss Universe titleholders: Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran-Floirendo (1973), Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (2015), and Catriona Magnayon Gray (2018). The Miss Universe 2021 pageant is scheduled to be staged on May 16.
