Filipino women store owners are attesting to increased income with the Globe loading business as part of their livelihood.
Maricris Caraballo is a homemaker, a wife, and a Globe retailer. She recalls how her income from selling mobile prepaid load was able to provide for her personal needs independent from the support her husband provides at home.
“Malaking tulong na rin na gumaan-gaan ang buhay. Kasi Filipino women store owners attest to increased income with Globe loading business
na ako katulad nung dati na sa bahay lang. Mag-aantay lang ako ng kung anong ibigay niya. Hindi na [ganun]. May kaniya-kaniya na kaming [kita],” said Caraballo.
Just like Maricris, Roshell dela Cruz is another Filipina whose world has been reinvented by Globe through its micro-business opportunities. Being the only vendor of Globe products in their area, Roshell was able to sustain her kids’ daily necessities without having to leave them for work.
“Oo, sobrang worth it po [na huminto sa trabaho]. Kasi unang-una yung expenses ko, yung pang sarili namin ng mga anak ko, natutugunan naman niya [load business]/ Kumbaga, nagagampanan din ng load yung personal need, pambili ng kung anu-ano. ‘Di ko na kailangan kunin pa ro’n sa sweldo ni mister,” dela Cruz shared.
Globe honors and celebrates passionate, resilient women this National Women’s Month. Through its diverse products made available at the community grassroots level, Globe enables these women to self-sustain and remain on their feet despite economic challenges. Aside from allowing them to make money on their own, they are also able to create a life they deserve while enjoying quality time with their loved ones.
The income and convenience brought by Globe to Roshell dela Cruz’s life enabled her to enjoy quality time with her kids and earn extra right at the comfort of their home. “Naka-upo ka lang, may kakatok lang sa bahay mo. Pa-load ako. ‘Yon ang kagandahan sa kaniya kasi nakakatulong talaga siya. Wala kang ginagawa as in nagloload lang,” dela Cruz added.
As a way of giving back the value they create with Globe and as part of the company’s assistance in nation-building, at least 280 retailers, 80% of which are women, benefitted from Globe’s Community Development program. These retailers who are from 62 cities and municipalities in eight areas devastated by Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses last year were provided with livelihood opportunities through a retailer package which includes an LTE phone, SIM starter kit, and initial Php 1000 load.
“Globe recognizes the vital role these micro-entrepreneurs like sari-sari store owners play in the business supply chain. These vendors, who are mostly Filipina, are our precious gem in bringing Globe one step closer to every Filipino in the country,” said Bernie Llamzon, Globe’s Executive Vice President for Channel Management.
Globe supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG), specifically UN SDG No. 8 which calls for Decent Work and Economic Growth; and No. 9 which emphasizes the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. Globe is committed to upholding the 10 United Nations Global Compact principles and 10 UN SDGs.
Globe Stores reopened in 2021 with life-enabling service beyond call, text, data offers.
