Cebu’s Margielyn Didal wins first-ever Asia’s Skater of the Year Award

Cebu’s Margielyn Didal has won the first-ever “Asia Skater of the Year” award and two other titles in the inaugural edition of the Asia Skateboarding Awards.

The 21-year-old skate wunderkind defeated 60 women contenders in Asia and was announced the grand winner of the international tilt on March 3, 2021.

Didal also topped the “Style for Miles” and “Fastest Feet in the East” categories.

Pro street skateboard star Margielyn Didal currently holds the No. 14 spot in the Olympic World Skateboarding Rankings.

In 2020, she won the bronze at the first-ever Women’s Open at Skate Tampa in Florida and snatched the silver medal for the country in the virtual edition of the Madrid Urban Sports tournament.

Margielyn Didal was also named among the best talents in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia Class of 2020.

The inaugural season of the Asia Skateboarding Awards rounded up the best skateboarding talents in Asia to crown the first-ever Man and Woman Asia Skater Of The Year.

Aside from the Skater Of The Year, the competition handed out awards in other categories, including Asia’s finest Man and Woman transition skaters, the steeziest, the most creative, the up and comers, and the speediest, among others.

Iloilo’s Christopher “Ping” Hurich earlier earned a nomination in the “Fast Feet” category of the Asia Skateboarding Awards.
