The Central Luzon Link Expressway (CLLEX) Project Phase 1 spanning four lanes over 30 kilometers is expected to reduce travel time between Tarlac City and Cabanatuan City from 70 minutes to just 20 minutes.
The reduced travel time on the PHP11.811 Billion CLLEX Project is anticipated to benefit around 11,200 motorists and commuters daily and ease traffic at Daang Maharlika Highway, stated Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar on February 15, 2021, as he inspected the progress of the project.
The CLLEX project will also benefit farmers from the Philippines’ rice granary of Nueva Ecija in delivering their crops to markets of Central Luzon and Metro Manila.
The DPWH reported that the 18-kilometer section from the connection of SCTEX and TPLEX in Balingcanaway, Tarlac City up to Aliaga Interchange, Nueva Ecija of the CLLEX Project Phase 1 will be substantially completed within 90 days or by May 15, 2021.
The 4.10 kilometer Tarlac Section and 6.40 kilometer Rio Chico River Bridge Section including 1.5 km Rio Chico Viaduct are already completed while the 9.20 kilometer Aliaga Section and 10.30 kilometer Cabanatuan Section are 78.46 and 85.04 percent accomplished, respectively, said DPWH Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office Operations Emil Sadain.
An additional 4.8 kilometer component of the expressway project from the junction of Carmen-Cabanatuan Road is the Zaragoza Interchange Section.
More road projects in the Philippines have been completed to shorten motorists’ travel time, including, the San Miguel – Calaitan Road Project, which is expected to cut travel time from farms to the nearest market by 1 hour and 20 minutes, and the NLEX Harbor Link section in Navotas City, which was opened in June of 2020 and is expected to reduce travel time from Manila’s Port Area to Quezon City to just 20 minutes.
