A campaign to urge Filipinos to synchronize clocks with the Philippine Standard Time is heralding the New Year 2021.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) launched the “ORAS PINAS: One Nation, One Time: Pilipinas ON TIME” campaign in support of the National Time Consciousness Week (NTCW) annually observed from January 1-7.

The 2021 campaign theme is “Synchronizing Filipino Time with ORAS PINAS” in line with Republic Act No. 10535 directive to actively promote the Philippine Standard Time.

The Philippine Standard Time Act directs DOST-PAGASA to be the official timekeeper of the nation.

All government and private offices, hospitals, schools, airports, seaports, radio, and television stations are directed to display to the public their clocks that are synchronized to the DOST-PAGASA Philippine Standard Time found on the agency’s website.

In 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic, DOST-PAGASA developed a method to forecast storms 2 weeks in advance. The agency also issued the Safety Guide When Typhoons Strike During Covid 19 Pandemic.
