Marvel Studios has cast Filipino-American actress Ginger Gonzaga for “She-Hulk”, the new legal comedy series coming soon to Disney Plus.
Marvel’s “She-Hulk” is led by Orphan Black actress Tatiana Maslany playing the role of Bruce Banner’s cousin Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who gains all the superpowers of the Hulk. The show is directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia, with Jessica Gao serving as head writer.
Ginger Gonzaga of Showtime’s “Kidding”, announced to fans in an Instagram post on January 20, 2021, that she will be joining the all-star cast of “She-Hulk” which include Hollywood actors Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, and Tim Roth.
“She Hulk! I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am join #shehulk. We will be directed by THE @katcoiro! @chairman.gao is writing our series, and fam… she. Is. Funny. I get to pal around with @tatianamaslany who can play ANYTHING, and I get to look fierce while being funny!” Ginger Gonzaga wrote.
Fil-Am actress and comedian Ginger Gonzaga is set to play Walters’ best friend in the Marvel Studios series, according to the report by Deadline. Viewers can also expect a visit from the Hulk himself, Mark Ruffalo, in the upcoming show which hails from streamer Disney+.
“So stoked to join the @marvel/@disney family, and they have been nothing but supportive and kind with next level vibes…Also tons of rumors going around that @markruffalo is the greatest dude. Will report back!” Gonzaga adds.
Additionally, the show will welcome a bevy of different Marvel characters to the series, which will include the Hulk, once again played by Ruffalo, along with the Abomination, with Roth reprising the role.
Marvel’s “She-Hulk” Disney+ show is expected to premiere in 2022.
In television, Fil-Am celebrity Ginger Gonzaga is best known for her roles as “Christy” in the Duplass Brothers’ “Togetherness” on HBO, “Maggie” on Showtime’s Dramedy “I’m Dying Up Here” and as “Vivian” on “Kidding” both shows produced by comedian Jim Carrey.
Another Filipino-American actor, Jacob Batalon, will return as Spiderman’s best buddy and sidekick in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3.
Marvel’s 1st Filipina superhero, Wave, the defender of the Philippine Sea, earlier debuted on Marvel Comics’ series “War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas”. She was designed by the Filipino comic book artist Leinil Yu and written by American Comic book writer Greg Pak.
