The Philippines’ unbeaten boxer Reymart “Assassin” Gaballo is now the interim World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight champion of the world after winning his recent United States bout.
Gaballo, who holds a sterling zero loss record, won via split decision against Emmanuel Rodriguez of Puerto Rico after twelve rounds of combat in the Premier Boxing Champion event on December 20, 2020, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
The 24-year-old boxer from General Santos City continues to set his record unstained with the current standing of 24 wins, 20 knockouts, and 0 loss.
The Filipino fighter, who was the replacement of four-time world champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire in the tournament, scored 116-112 and 115-113 in favor of Gaballo while the third judge scored 118-110 for Rodriguez.
It was Gaballo’s first victory since his last knock-out win against Chaiwat Buatkrathok of Thailand on December 14, 2019.
Aside from the WBC title, Gaballo also holds the interim World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight belt, which he won via Unanimous Decision against Stephon Young of the US.
The world boxing champion, who trains at Sanman Boxing Gym, shared a lengthy message on his Facebook that gave a glimpse of his journey as a boxer on December 20 that reads:
“Being a boxer is one of the toughest & hardest job in the world. It was my childhood dream, so I work hard for it every single day at the gym and never get tired trying & pushing myself to my limits. Now that my sacrifices are slowly paying off I would like to thank God first for making all of this possiblemy family who gives me reason to strive harder. My team SANMAN,M&R Boxing wram team Moro Fernandez and to those who trust me in your support means a lot. My sponsors BRIGADA, ALLIANCE, and Grizz thank you for believing in me and to all my fans your prayers and cheers inspired me to do my best. My heart is full thank you all so much.”
