The University of the Philippines community is again coming together for the “SamasamaTulongtulong” drive to help victims of typhoons Rolly and Ulysses that struck Luzon.
The donation and volunteer drive is a partnership between the University of the Philippines administration, UP Resilience Institute, UP College Of Human Kinetics, UP Pahinungod, UP Men’s Basketball Team, and the nowhere to go but UP Foundation.
The group had earlier made the call for help after Typhoon Rolly struck the Bicol region on November 1, 2020, and renewed the call right after Typhoon Ulysses hit more areas in Luzon on November 11.
Donations in cash and kind are accepted. Drop off and repacking station begins operations on November 13 until November 15, from 8 am to 5 pm at the UP CHK MBT Coaches’ Lounge at the New Gym.
Preferred donations are the following:
- shelter material (tents, tarpaulins, mats, blankets)
- food items (rice, easy-open canned goods, biscuits)
- drinking water
- medicine
- hygiene kits
- alcohol, face masks, face shields

Nowhere To Go But UP Foundation, the alumni group that was instrumental in reenergizing the UP Fighting Maroons, had earlier rallied the UP community to help the communities affected by the Taal Volcano eruption in January.
The UP Resilience Institute has been at the forefront of providing solutions to disaster management. Its chief is Dr. Mahar Lagmay, the head of the internationally-awarded Project NOAH.
