Gameboys makes history as it heads to Netflix this December

The award-winning Gameboys series of The IdeaFirst Company is making history as the first Pinoy Boys’ Love (BL) series to be released globally via Netflix this December.

The American streaming site announced on its Philippine Twitter account on November 23 that the “Gameboys Level-Up Edition” will premiere on December 30, 2020.

“The rumors are true! Ahh!!” Netflix Philippines said on its post. “Caimazing and Angel2000 are finally headed to Netflix Gameboys Level-Up Edition drops on December 30 See you, @elijahcanlas_ & @kkydsnts!”

The Twitter post came with a clip of the lead stars Kokoy De Santos and Elijah Canlas announcing the good news to their fans while they are in their respective Gameboys characters.

The IdeaFirst Company also confirmed the announcement on their social media accounts by sharing the Netflix Philippines’ post.

The 13-episode series that premiered online on May 22 will remain free to view on The IdeaFirst Company YouTube channel.

Gameboys tells the story of young online gamers Cairo and Gavreel who fell in love amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Elijah Canlas has won the Best Actor award at the Italian Asian Filmfest.

Last November 16, the series brought pride to the Philippines after being hailed as the Best Web Series at the Seoul Indie Shorts Awards in South Korea.
