Filipino chefs, restaurants, and volunteers are banding together to work hand-in-hand in preparing meals for the typhoon-stricken families in Metro Manila.

The spirit of “Bayanihan” and compassion towards fellow Filipinos are greatly seen in these trying times as four restaurants from around Metro Manila led by its chefs with the help of volunteers are lending their skills and time to feed the evacuees after two devastating typhoons have hit the country.

The four restaurants are Simpol led by Umagang Kay Ganda Chef Myke Tatung, Quezon City’s GourmetGypsy Art Cafe led by Chef Waya Araos-Wijangco, Makati’s Le Sucre Lab, and Makati’s Sarsa Kitchen+Bar.

Immediately after typhoon Ulysses flooded most parts of Metro Manila on November 12, 2020, these compassionate people started the feeding drive and donation campaign.

Filipino chef and Best-selling cookbook author Mike Tatung together with his team and some volunteers have distributed 600 hot meals to 154 families at Kalumpang Elementary School, Kagitingan St. Marikina City.

More donations have been received by Tatung’s team including bottled waters, and cooking ingredients. Their feeding drive is still on-going.

Makati’s Le Sucre Lab dessert shop is also doing its share of good deeds with packed meals prepared by their team.

“We are dedicating this day to cook for our brothers and sisters who are affected by Typhoon Ulysses,” wrote the dessert shop.

Quezon City-based restaurant GourmetGypsy Art Cafe has distributed 1,500 food packs, soymilk, and bread to Marikina City with assistance from Land Rover Club of the Philippines.

“A huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped us today! We are still accepting donations at 28 Maginhawa St., UP Village Quezon City.”

Meanwhile, Filipino cuisine restaurant Sarsa Kitchen+Bar is selling tote bags for a cause. All the proceeds will go to the staff and other families that were badly hit by Typhoon Ulysses.

“This will help them rebuild their homes and provide for their family’s basic needs like food, shelter, clean water, dry clothes, medicine, and masks. Special thanks to @tracieanglo for designing our special double handle tote. It comes with an inner pocket for small objects,” wrote the Makati-based restaurant. Pinoy celebrities also swiftly acted to help in the rescue and relief efforts for the victims of typhoon Ulysses in Metro Manila.

The University of the Philippines community has also united for the “SamasamaTulongtulong” drive for typhoon victims.

SEND CHEERS and WELL WISHES to these chefs, restaurants, and volunteers who are working together in helping the typhoon victims.
