Mark Anthony Perez has launched a campaign offering free laptop repair services to help Tarlac students cope with the online learning of the new normal in schooling.
The 22-year-old computer programmer started the initiative amid the pandemic to lend poor students a helping hand as Philippine education takes on a distance learning approach this school year to keep students safe from COVID-19.
Perez stressed that not all students possess the means for e-learning. He hopes to motivate students and is calling on others with similar tech skills to join his ‘Free Repair Services for Student’s Online Learning Campaign’.
Over 150 needy students have already reached out to Perez for his repair services. The programmer is overwhelmed by the requests but is still finding time to accommodate them despite his full-time job.
Perez is also donating old laptops for the cause and is encouraging people to do the same. He told netizens to donate their old gadgets: computers, laptops, tablets, or mobile phones to struggling Filipino distance learners.
Perez once again volunteered his tech repair services in a social media post on August 27, saying he will fix up the donated gadgets if they need repairing.
