Filipino rock band Itchyworms is headlining the United Kingdom’s Gotobeat Summer Music Festival to be held online amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Manila-based rock band is the sole Original Pilipino Music (OPM) act in the live event.
The Itchyworms is featured in the music festival along with musical acts from around the globe, including Demsky from Japan, Reality Club from Indonesia, May Ziv from Israel, and Zkeletonz, Lulalong, Dimaggio Jones, and Kaprica all from the UK.
The online music fest that will take place on August 20, 2020, and presented by the live streaming services gigmit and Gotobeat is supporting performing artists amid the pandemic by reinventing live music gigs for concert-goers.
The Itchyworms debuted their fifth rock album, Waiting For The End To Start on Monday, August 17. The 9-track studio album was conceptualized and recorded while the band members were in their own respective homes during the nationwide lockdown.
Another virtual concert in the OPM scene is happening this month. Topbilled by Ogie Alcasid and Christian Bautista, the “One Voice for Children” concert benefits World Vision Philippines’ beneficiaries.
OPM icon Kuh Ledesma is auctioning her art collection to benefit families affected by COVID-19.
