Asian Star Alden Richards is spreading good vibes beyond his TV shows and on to the gaming community by giving out cash and gadgets for his fans and student viewers.
The GMA Network artist of Eat Bulaga and All Out Sundays and Filipino actor who won the 2019 Asian Star Prize in South Korea is also an online gamer who plays Mobile Legends.
Richards, who plays the video game as his relief from the COVID 19 pandemic, first launched his #ARGaming on Facebook on June 13, 2020, and streamed his online game. He also converted his Facebook fan page into a game page to reach his fans and supporters.
“I’m very happy with the result of the gaming page,” Alden shared in an interview with Kapuso Showbiz News on GMA Network YouTube channel on July 29.
“I actually converted my Facebook fan page into a gaming page which has more engagement to followers. Parang mas nakaka-interact ko sila. Kasi sila din, of course, lahat naman takot pa lumabas. S’yempre wala pa tayong vaccine or cure for COVID,” Richards said.
The online game streaming became an avenue for the actor to have virtual close interaction with his fans and co-gamers.
“So it’s also a good way of interacting to people who miss you, especially the followers, the fans and ‘yong mga supporters natin d’yan,” Alden added.
Alden Richards also found gaming as his new chance to give back to the community aside from being a champion of the health safety campaign against coronavirus disease. The Filipino actor is giving away gadgets to students who are now in need of tablets, phones, and laptops for the new normal of online schooling.
“And (it is) a way of helping them as well since I give out giveaways,” Alden announced. “Like on my recent giveaways we gave out tablets. S’yempre alam naman natin na malapit na magpasukan and people are in need of gadgets para maka-cope sila.
“Kasi parang we’re leaning on online learning na, e,” he continued. “Parang ila-live. Kailangan mo na ng tablet or phone or whatever device you can get for schooling. And also nagbibigay din tayo nang konting cash assistance doon sa lucky viewers na mabubunot.”
The lead actor of the 2019 blockbuster film “Hello, Love, Goodbye” said that he is happy that he is able to give help to deserving students in his small way.
“Like recently, meron tayong nabunot… Natutuwa ako kapag meron akong nabibigyang taong deserving ng tulong, especially ‘tong batang ‘to na kinailangan n’ya ng funds para sa kanyang pag-aaral. So nagamit n’ya ‘yong napanalunan n’yang prize from me pang-tuition sa school n’ya this year.”
Alden went on: ‘Yong mga ganun, it gives me more drive to give out prizes kasi especially nga na we’re under pandemic, ang daming walang trabaho, ang daming walang mahanapan ng source of income.
“So in my small way, being a gamer, ‘yon yong nagagawa ko sa mga taong nangangailangan ng tulong. Also in a sense na I promote responsible gaming sa gaming community.”
Alden’s fellow Kapuso star Heart Evangelista has also given away tablets for students for use in their upcoming online schooling by selling her own paintings.
