The Filipino multi-national corporation will be placing bread kiosks at the gas stations in Metro Manila to source out free Nutri-buns for the poor every day.

SMC had the ’70’s bread revived at the start of the pandemic which benefited the Caritas Manila but now they will widen the area of recipients particularly in depressed areas of Payatas, Caloocan, Malolos, and Tondo.

Through SMC’s Petron gas stations which are set to become distribution centers, the vitamin-fortified, energy-packed bread, as well as regular bread, will be available.

The homegrown conglomerate has already started procuring ovens to be placed at the identified feeding centers which are expected to become available to targeted communities soon.

SMC President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Ramon S. Ang, continues to show compassion as the country faces a major blow in the economy that affects mostly the poor sectors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Every community is home to children and families facing hunger. Through our various Petron stations, we hope to continue to get food to people who need it and help them make it through these challenging times,” said Ang in his Facebook post.

The leading food company in the Philippines is also active in various donation drives for giving their own food products and continuously serving through their “Better World Tondo” initiative.

“In these trying times, no Filipino should go hungry. Wherever food is needed by the poorest and most disadvantaged, San Miguel will be there to help,” added the SMC President and COO.

Since the onslaught of COVID-19 pandemic, SMC has been leading humanitarian works to ease the impact brought by the virus on poor sectors and the government as well.

SMC also bought 69 million kilos of corn from Filipino farmers in a bid to support local food sources.

The Filipino corporation also donated swabbing booths and test kits to increase Metro Manila’s COVID-19 mass testing capacity.
