The Philippines’ Eat Bulaga, the country’s longest-running TV program, turned a year older today, July 30, 2020, as it celebrated its 41st anniversary amid the pandemic.

The Filipino variety show produced by TAPE Inc. premiered on July 30, 1979, and aired on RPN 9 up to 1989 and then on ABS-CBN from 1989 to 1995. It transferred to GMA Network in 1995 where it continues to air daily shows.

For their 41st anniversary, dubbed as International Dabarkads Day, the Team EB (hosts stationed at the studio), and Team Bahay (hosts who were in their homes), were reunited with former hosts of the show joined for the opening dance number via Zoom video.

The host also offered prayers to God for allowing them to continue their program and provide entertainment to Filipino homes under the new normal.

The segment “Bawat Judgmental” was also dedicated to the nurses who are COVID-19 survivors and others still serving as medical frontliners.

Eat Bulaga also introduced its first new normal EBest scholar, lumad Jeoffrey Solin-ay Mambucon, the Tigwahanon-Manobo medical graduate from Bukidnon who will receive assistance from the show as he prepares for his board examination.

The show also opened the line for EBest scholarship application for the future medical frontliners who are much needed in the battle against COVID-19.

Aside from giving noontime entertainment to its audience, Eat Bulaga also champions the Pinoy Bayanihan spirit to help unfortunate individuals and families as well as answering to the call of times.

In May this year, the noontime show launched its Bobble Head Dolls collection featuring the images of AlDub love team, Alden Richard and Maine Mendoza, teen host Ryzza Mae Dizon and Wally Bayola in Lola Nidora character to raise funds for its public service segment that provides livelihood to viewers.

Eat Bulaga also donated 3D printers for face shield-making at the University of Santo Tomas to benefit the coronavirus disease frontliners.

The Pinoy TV program, which was franchised to Indonesia in 2012 as “Eat Bulaga! Indonesia”, was also expanded its international audience through “Eat Bulaga Myanmar” in 2019.

SEND CONGRATULATIONS in the comments below to Eat Bulaga for celebrating its 41st anniversary in honor of frontliners!
