- Mayor Isko distributed tax credit certificates to hotels and motels in Manila that continued sheltering frontliners.
- This is allegedly in recognition of their contribution to the city during this pandemic period.
- Each tax credit certificate costs P100,000.
Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso thanked the owners of hotel motels and other establishments for sheltering medical frontliners during the pandemic.
And in recognition of their contributions to the fight against COVID-19 of the city of Manila, he gives an incentive through tax credits.
“Since day one, wala na kayong kita. You really suffered severely as an industry. Mano pa, Manila was the first to come up with an executive order requesting each of you to help our medical frontliners to accommodate them,” Yorme said in his speech this Wednesday in front of the council.
The mayor commended the said establishments, most of whom allegedly volunteered to go to the local government of Manila to offer their help and support.
“It cost you millions, but you did not ask for a single cent. On behalf of our doctors, nurses, hospital staff who were accommodated in your place of business, we thank you. I cannot thank you enough,” says Mayor Isko.
At the said gathering, Mayor Isko distributed tax credit certificates worth P100,000 to the owners of hotels, motels, inns, apartments and dormitories.
Under Ordinance No. 8646, tax credit can be used on any type of local business taxes, regulatory fees and services including surcharges and penalty interest.
They allegedly talked to the city council that somehow they would give the hotel and motel a consolation to those they helped and that they thought of the tax credit.
Mayor Isko, on the other hand, admits that this ‘tax credit’ is not enough to pay for the support they got from the aforementioned establishments but the owners can definitely use it in their business.
