A number of Filipino businesses have found ways to remain open even as California in the United States had closed indoor operations amid rising cases of COVID 19.

These resilient outlets have managed to be exempted from the closure order after modifying to outdoor and delivery services, reported Asian Journal on July 25, 2020.

Some businesses started their delivery option through their website. Others partnered with delivery apps like Doordash, Grubhub, and Postmates.

Others sold products through Zoom and welcomed delivery and pickup arrangements.

Following are 11 Filipino outlets remaining open in California:

  1. Chowking
  2. Cuisine of the Philippines in Woodland Hills
  3. LASA in Chinatown’s Far East Plaza
  4. Eagle Rock Plaza
  5. Eye Q. Optometry
  6. Jollibee
  7. OSkin Med Spa
  8. San Fernando Valley Fork & Spoon in Los Angeles
  9. Sari Sari Store in Grand Central Market
  10. Seafood City Supermarket
  11. Valerio’s Tropical Bakeshop

Pinoy California, a Pinoy-made app, also started operating to bring the Filipino community together online during the lockdown.

Recently, the Los Angeles City Council reappointed Fil-Am commissioners Jessica Caloza and Susana Reyes to fresh 5-year terms in public boards.
